Jacqui + Patto - A Tasmanian Handmade Wedding

Today's wedding is a happy one and from all the wonderful photos sent in, it looks like so much fun was had in making the wedding come together, as well as the day itself.

Jacqui and Patto were married on 10 March 2012 at their friend's property at Roches Beach in Southern Tasmania. The ceremony was held at the house and the reception in a marquee in one of the paddocks. The fun and happy photos were all taken by Fred and Hannah of Fred + Hannah, a pair of Tassie photographers who will be featuring on The Apple Aisle very soon!

Jacqui tells us about their special day...

How They Met...

"We met at Bridie O’Reilly's pub on an ‘industry night’, when we were 18 and 19."

The Proposal...

"I woke to breakfast in bed for my birthday, cuddling our baby girl when Patto pulled out a ring and proposed."

The Wedding Day...

The wedding had a vintage, handmade and eco-friendly theme to it with most of the decorations being made by the couple and loved ones, including their photobooth. They collected jars from the tipshop for vases, decorating them in twine and filling them with flowers from Jacqui's parents' garden.

"We always wanted it to be a relaxed affair, with just really close friends and family."

"We both love vintage, retro and eco/natural ideas, so we chose this theme because it is just 'us'. I also love to be creative and really enjoyed making the decorations and searching for ideas. We wanted to do as much as possible ourselves to personalise it."

"We chose the venue because we wanted to feel relaxed and we wanted our guests to relax too. We wanted to have everything on the one site so there was no travel between the ceremony and reception, and for guests to have the option of camping."

"This allowed us to be able to take our time setting up and packing up and to hold a 'hangover cure' cook-up the next day. We could party into the early hours without time restraints and having a marquee meant that we could create our own little world inside."

"It was a blank canvas so we could make it just how we wanted it to be. I was trying to create a romantic, natural, playful and relaxed vibe when making up the decorations."

"We chose Roches Beach, as we were offered the property from our friend, Jess and it worked perfectly for us as I grew up in the area. Also, Patrick and I lived in Lauderdale together for a while so spent a lot of time on the beach; going for walks and hanging out with friends."

Daisy & Jack - Wedding Stationery

I hope everyone has been keeping warm in Tassie over the past week, it's definitely been wild and windy down here in Hobart!

Today, I wanted to introduce to you all the work of Sophie Lord from Daisy & Jack.

Sophie is currently on a research/buying trip across America, which sounds like an absolute blast! Once she returns I'll have a bigger feature on her business but for now I just had to share the invitations she sent me from the Canberra wedding of Prue and Cameron.

Enjoy!

Adam & Danielle - A Black, White & Bird Wedding

The rain is definitely bucketing hard here in Hobart today so what better way to warm up and keep dry than looking at a beautiful summer wedding from last year!

Adam and Danielle were married on 22 January 2011 at Pooleys Vineyard in Richmond, followed by a reception at Catch Restaurant in Hobart. The talented Lisa Kuilenburg of LisaK Photography took all the beautiful photos on the day.

The couple tells us all about their wonderful day...

How They Met...

Adam and Danielle met through mutual friends at university.

The Proposal...

Adam took Danielle away for a surprise night at Cradle Mountain. The afternoon began with some relaxation time in the outdoor jacuzzi where the snow couldn’t have dropped at a more appropriate time making it a romantic moment to remember.

After some sightseeing it was time for tea and the walk to the restaurant provided the perfect time for the proposal with snow crunching under foot, a star lit sky and snow lightly falling. Adam pointed to the sky, encouraging Danielle to look at an imaginary shooting star, in order to buy enough time to drop to his knee and find the ring. A startled Danielle turned to find Adam propose, to which she replied “yes”.

The night could not have been more perfect until a standoff between two possums on the path to the restaurant turned sour and resulted in a quick dash the long way around. A minor hiccup in an otherwise perfect night!

The Wedding Day...

The theme for the wedding was black and white with bird and bird cage features.

Their entrance into the reception was a basketball 'take-off' of player introductions for the bridal party to the song, "Let's Get Ready To Rumble!". This not only provided quirky comical facts about each member of the bridal party but also allowed guests to create a guard of honour for the couple to dance through.

Music...

Processional Song - 'Love Story' by Taylor Swift, played by Champagne Strings.

Recessional Song - 'Viva la Vida' by Coldplay.

Signing of the Registry - 'Fireflies' by Owl City.

First Dance - ‘How Deep Is Your Love?’, a cover by The Bird and The Bee.
