Alicia & Ivan - A Tasmanian Winter Wedding

Today's wedding shows how you can use the beautiful Tasmanian landscape to your advantage. From the photos in the fields to the ceremony in the Hartz Mountains shelter, Alicia and Ivan have really made the most of Tasmania's natural beauty.

The couple were married on 11 June 2011, a date that was very meaningful to them as it was also their 10 year anniversary.

The ceremony was held at the top shelter of the Hartz Mountains, just outside of Geeveston and the reception was at Home Hill Winery in Ranelagh.

Their photographer was Alan Moyle of Photobat who did a great job of capturing their special day.
The Engagement...

Alicia and Ivan got engaged on their 7 year anniversary at the Cradle Mountain B&B.

Alicia went to get ready for the anniversary dinner and when she came back out, the room was completely covered in tea lights and candles. Ivan walked her to the couch, knelt down, presented the ring and asked her to marry him.
The Wedding Day...

The theme for the day was nature, using forest colours of green and brown. They wanted their wedding to be a true reflection of themselves and their relationship.
For the ceremony, they decorated the shelter with candles and solved the issue of the cold weather by filling the room with heaters as well as handing out hand warmers to each guest on arrival.
They started the ceremony by lighting two candles, both of which they had chosen to represent themselves. Once they had been pronounced 'Husband and Wife', they lit a 'marriage' candle using the first two.
Between the ceremony and reception, the bridal party drove to a farmer's field where they trudged through marshland and snow to have their photographs taken with some Highland cows, Ivan's favourite breed.
Wedding Music...

Processional Songs - 'All I Want Is You' by Barry Louis Polisar and 'Forever' by Ben Harper.

Signing Song - 'The Blower's Daughter' by Damien Rice.

First Dance - 'Sea of Love' by Cat Power. This song had particular significance as Alicia often travels to Antarctica with her job and this is the song her and Ivan listen to during that time when they miss each other.

Cake Cutting Song - 'You and I' by Ingrid Michaelson.

Exit Song - 'I'm Yours' by Jason Mraz.
